TRANSLATION OF THE LESSON (पाठ का हिन्दी अनुवाद)।

हिन्दी अनुवाद- बहुत समय पहले, एक बहुत साहसी और दयालु राजा रहता था। वह अपने लोगों की अच्छे से सेवा करना चाहता था। एक बार राजा के दिमाग में एक सोच आई। उसने सोचा कि अगर वह तीन चीज़ों के बारे में जान जाएगा तो कभी असफल नहीं होगा। वह तीन चीजें थीं-(1) किसी काम को प्रारंभ करने का सही समय क्या है? (2) किन लोगों की बात उसे सुननी चाहिए? (3) कौन-सा काम उसके लिए सबसे अधिक महत्वपूर्ण है? इसलिए राजा ने अपने पूरे राज्य में संदेशवाहक भेजे, और बहुत सारा धन उसे देने का वादा किया जो इन तीन प्रश्नों का उत्तर देगा।
राजा के पास कई विद्वान आदमी आए परन्तु अलग-अलग उत्तरों के साथ। पहले प्रश्न के उत्तर में, कुछ ने कहाराजा एक समय-सारणी बनाकर उसका दृढ़ता से पालन करे। कुछ ने कहा-किसी कार्य को करने का सही समय पहले से ही तय कर पाना असंभव है। कुछ ने कहा कि राजा को बुद्धिमान लोगों के परिषद् की आवश्यकता थी जो सही समय पर कार्य करने के लिए उसकी मदद करे। कुछ और लोगों ने कहा-केवल जादूगर ही भविष्य देख सकते हैं और किसी कार्य को करने का उचित समय बता सकते हैं।
इसी प्रकार से दूसरे प्रश्न के उत्तर भी सब ने अलग दिए। कुछ ने कहा-राजा को जिन सही लोगों की सुननी चाहिए वे हैं उसके सलाहकार । तो कुछ ने कहा कि उसके सैनिक उसके लिए सबसे महत्वपूर्ण हैं जिनकी उसे सुननी चाहिए।
तीसरे प्रश्न के उत्तर में कुछ ने कहा कि सबसे महत्वपूर्ण चीज़ विज्ञान है, तो कुछ ने कहा कि वह युद्ध-नीति है; जबकि कुछ ने कहा कि वह धार्मिक पूजा है। |

हिन्दी अनुवाद- राजा किसी भी उत्तर से संतुष्ट नहीं था। इसलिए उसने निर्णय लिया कि वह इस बारे में एक प्रसिद्ध साधु से सलाह लेगा। साधु एक जंगल में रहता था जिसे उसने कभी नहीं छोड़ा। वह सिर्फ साधारण लोगों से ही मिलता था। इसलिए राजा ने सादे कपड़े पहने। उसने अपने अंगरक्षकों के पास अपना घोड़ा छोड़ा और साधु को अकेला ही मिलने चल पड़ा।
जैसे ही राजा साधु की कुटिया में पहुँचा, उसने साधु को कुटिया के सामने ज़मीन खोदते देखा। साधु बूढ़ा और कमज़ोर था। काम करते करते वह गहरी साँसें ले रहा था।
राजा उसके पास गया और बोला, “हे विद्वान साधु! मैं तीन प्रश्नों का उत्तर जानने आया हूँ : मैं सही समय पर सही कार्य करना कैसे सीख सकता हूँ? मेरे लिए सबसे आवश्यक लोग कौन हैं? और, कौन-से मामले मेरा प्रथम ध्यान चाहते हैं? साधु ने राजा को सुना, पर कुछ कहा नहीं। वह खोदता रहा। राजा ने कहा, “आप थक गए हैं, मुझे फावड़ा दे दीजिए और आपके लिए खोदने दीजिए।”
धन्यवाद,” साधु ने कहा। राजा को फावड़ा देकर, वह जमीन पर बैठ गया। एक घंटा बीता और एक और बीता। सूर्य पेड़ों के पीछे जाकर अस्त हो गया। अंत में राजा ने फावड़ा ज़मीन में फँसाकर कहा, “हे विद्वान पुरुष! कृपया करके मेरे प्रश्नों के उत्तर दीजिए। अगर आप नहीं दे सकते, तो मुझे बताइए और मैं अपने घर चला जाऊँ।” “कोई इधर भागता । आ रहा है,” साधु ने कहा, “आओ देखें कौन है वो।”
राजा पीछे पलटा और एक दाढ़ी वाले आदमी को उनकी तरफ भागता आते देखा। अपने हाथ उसने पेट पर दबाए हुए थे जहाँ से खून बह रहा था। राजा की तरफ पहुँचते ही वह बेहोश हो गया। उसके पेट पर एक बड़ा घाव था। राजा ने उसे धोया और अपने रूमाल से पट्टी बाँथी और जब तक खून नहीं रूका तक तक दोबारा पट्टी बाँधता रहा। उस आदमी ने बेहतर अनुभव किया और पानी माँगा। राजा उसके लिए ताज़ा पानी लाया । इस समय तक सूरज पूरा डूब चुका था और हवा ठंडी हो गई। साधु की मदद से राजा ज़ख्मी आदमी को कुटिया के अंदर ले गया और बिस्तर पर लिटा दिया। अब राजा भी थक चुका था। वह भी फर्श पर लेट गया और पूरी रात सोया रही। जब वह उठा तो उसने दाढ़ी वाले आदमी को उसी की तरफ देखता हुआ पाया।
“मुझे माफ कर दीजिए,” एक कमज़ोर सी आवाज़ में दाढ़ी वाले आदमी ने कहा।

हिन्दी अनुवाद- “मैं तुम्हें नहीं जानता और तुम्हें माफ करने लायक कुछ भी नहीं है,” राजा ने कहा। “आप मुझे नहीं जानते परन्तु मैं आपको जानता हूँ। मैं आपका शत्रु हूँ। आपने मेरे भाई को मरवाया था और हमारी संपत्ति ज़ब्त कर ली थी। मैं जानता था कि आप साधु से मिलने अकेले जा रहे थे। मैंने आपको मार डालने की योजना बनाई। परन्तु जब आप वापस नहीं आए, मैं अपने छिपने के स्थान से बाहर आयो और आपके अंगरक्षकों ने मुझे घायल कर दिया। मैं किसी तरह बच निकला और आपके पास पहुँच गया। आपने मेरे घावों पर पट्टी बाँधी और मेरा जीवन बचाया। अब, यदि मैं जी गया, मैं आपकी सेवा आपके सबसे विश्वसनीय दास के रूप में करूँगा। मुझे माफ कर दीजिए।”
अपने शत्रु पर इतनी आसान जीत पर राजा खुश हुआ। राजा ने उसकी सम्पत्ति वापस कर देने का वादा किया। दाढ़ी वाले आदमी ने राजा का धन्यवाद किया और चला गया।
जाने से पहले राजा साधु से मिलना चाहता था। साधु खेत में बीज बो रहा था। राजा ने उससे कहा, “कृपया करके मेरे प्रश्नों का उत्तर दे दीजिए।” “तुम्हारे प्रश्नों का उत्तर दिया जा चुका है,” साधु बोला। “उत्तर मिल गया? आप क्या कहना चाहते हैं?” राजा ने कहा।
हाँ, यदि तुमने मेरे लिए खेत नहीं खोदा होता तो तुम चले जाते। तब वह आदमी तुम पर प्रहार कर देता और तुम इच्छा जताते कि काश तुम मेरे साथ ही रह जाते। इसलिए सबसे महत्वपूर्ण समय वह था जिसमें तुम खेत खोद रहे थे। और मैं सबसे आवश्यक इन्सान था और तुम्हारे लिए सबसे अधिक आवश्यक काम मेरे साथ अच्छा करना था। उसके बाद, जब वह आदमी हमारी तरफ भाग आया, सबसे आवश्यक समय था जब तुम उसकी देखभाल कर रहे थे। अतः वह सबसे महत्वपूर्ण इन्सान था और जो तुमने उसके लिए किया वह तुम्हारे लिए सबसे महत्वपूर्ण काम था।”
